What is 8 Acre Woods Nature School?

8 Acre Woods Nature School is an innovative private educational venue dedicated to providing nature-based learning experiences for homeschool families, part-time preschoolers, adult-child pairs, and the greater Sandusky community. Located on 8 acres of lush woodland, our school offers an emergent curriculum that integrates outdoor exploration, hands-on activities, and community engagement.


What ages do you cater to?

The bulk of our programming is focused on children ages 3 to 13 years old with some programs spanning ages from babies to adults. We offer age-appropriate activities and curriculum for each age group to ensure an enriching and engaging experience for all participants.


What are the benefits of enrolling my child in a nature school?

What safety measures do you have in place?

The safety of our students is our top priority. We have trained staff members who are certified in first aid and CPR. Our outdoor environment is carefully monitored, and we have protocols in place for inclement weather and emergency situations. Additionally, we adhere to strict safety guidelines to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all children.


What should my child wear to school?

We recommend that children dress appropriately for outdoor activities, including comfortable clothing that can get dirty and closed-toe shoes suitable for walking and exploring in nature. Additionally, we encourage children to bring a water bottle, sunscreen, and a hat for sun protection. Please see our families page with our gear list that is specific to each season. 


Do you offer extended care or after-school programs?

We do not currently offer after-school or extended care programs.  This is a goal for our future programming.
